A Worshipful Master (WM) sits in the East and holds this appointment for one year. Rarely he may be appointed the following year as well. The WM chairs every Lodge meeting during his time in office. In Ockenden he is installed in office in the April. When his tenure is complete he becomes the Immediate Past Master (IPM), and then helps his successor grow into the job and sits beside him during formal Lodge meetings and at our Festive Boards or formal dinners.
In 2025/2026 our WM is Alex Sansom.
W.Bro. Alex Sansom LGR
I was initiated into Freemasonry on the 6th February 1987 in a London Lodge and made a Master Mason on the 26th September 1988.
I became Master of the London Lodge, for one year, in April 1997, and after fulfilling several roles within the Lodge, including being Secretary for seven years, I was promoted to London Grand Rank in 2010, and continued to engage in the activities and fulfil several other offices.
Having travelled on a regular basis from Haywards Heath to London, I felt it would make a change to join a local Lodge and so joined Ockenden Lodge several years ago with the simple intention of meeting new friends and enjoying the company of likeminded people, while retiring to the back benches and supporting the Lodge in any small way I could.
I never imagined at that time, and late in my life, I would once again be asked to become Master of a Lodge. So, it was an immense privilege, as well as a very pleasant surprise, to be asked to again take the Chair of King Solomon as Worshipful Master.
All the members of Ockenden have extended the hand of friendship and assisted me in my endeavours and I am extremely grateful to them for their support and trust I can repay their faith.
Why not take that first step to enjoying a new and fulfilling experience yourself?
Ockenden Lodge is one of the most successful Lodges in Sussex, offering a warm and friendly welcome to men of any faith.
With a wide cross section and age of members, we look forward to the opportunity of talking to you about what we can achieve — together.
